Waldemar Cierpinski

Born 3. August 1950 Neugattserleben, GDR
Waldemar Cierpinski was the second there won the Olympic Marathon twice
The first was the Ethiopien Legend Abebe Bikela who won in 1960 and 1964
He started his career by running 3000 M Stepplechase, but changed to Marathon in 1974
When the favorite to win the race in Montreal Frank Shorter made his attack after 25 kilometer, began Cierpinski to chase him, reached him, and beat him with a little Minute
He was the first to run under 2:10 at the Olympic, as his Victorytime was 2:09:55
Frank Shorter got Silver in 2:10:46 and Karel Lismont the Silvermeddallist from 1972 got Bronze 2:11:35
He succeed in winning 4 years later in Moscow. He won in the time 2:11:03 ahead of Gerard Nijboer Nederland 2.11.20 and the Russian Setymkul Dzhumanazarov 2.11.35
At the first WC in 1983 he got bronze
