In 1981 had he beaten his countryfellow Derek Claytons 12 year old Worldrecord in Fukuoka where he run 2:08:18
4 years later made he his PB in Boston 2:07:51 which wasn't World Record because Carlos Lopes had run 2.07.12 in Rotterdam
In 1983 got he that Honour to be the Australian of the Year
