At the Olympics in 1936 was it the Corean runner Sohn Kee-Chung who won
Corea was occupied by the Japanese so he represented Japan, and his Japanese name was Kitei Soh
He had the WR from 1935 2:26:42, which wasn't beaten until 1947 by his disciple Yun Bok Suh
He won a comfortable victorty over Ernest Harper, Great Britain 2.31.23 and his countryfellow Nam Seung-Yong(Shoryo Nan) 2.32.42 After the Games became he a Trainee for Yun Bok Suh and the Olympic Champion from 1992 Hwang Yong-Cho At the Olympics in Seoul was it him who carried the Flame into the Stadion
He died in 2002 when he was 80
