Alain Mimoun 1921-

Alain Mimoun was the second France nationalised Algirian who won the Olympic Marathon. The first was El Quafi there won in Amsterdam 1928
He had always been second after Zatopek, there as Mimoun was in his carriers autum, and started even though he was injuried, and couldn't follow Mimoun and the others Meddaltakers
Mimoun did win in the time 2:25:00 ahead of Franjo Mihalic Jugoslavia 2.26.32 and the silvermedalwinner from EC 1950 and the later European Champion Veikko Karvonen Finland 2.27.47
Mimoun there in 1956 was 35 Years old, continued his Carrier and competed in Rom 1960
As late as in 1966 did he win the France Championship in Marathon
He was also a good cross county runner who won the International Cross Country Cross 3 times, and were br 2 twice
