Kenneth MacArthur 1881-1960

The Olympic Marathon in Stockholm 1912 was a great South African triumph, when the Irish emigrant Kenneth McArthur won ahead of Christopher Gritsham. They followed each others most of the race, but when Gitsham stopped for drinking, McArthur didn't wait for him, and won the race
A year after was he hurt in his legs, and couldn't continue Running. He run 6 Marathons, and won them all. In his first Marathon he sensationel beated the Olympic Silver Medallist from London 1908 Charles Hefferson
He was born 1891 in Ballymoney in Northern Ireland, and in 1901 he imigratede to South Africa, where he started running
