The Ethiopian Gezahegne Abera was the youngest Olympic Marathon winner when he 22 years old won in 2000 Sydney
He was in a three man group shortly before finnish when he made a little hole to his countryfellow Tesfaye Tola and the Kenyan Eric Wainana
He won in the time 2.10.11 ahead of Wainaina 2.10.31, og Tola 2.11.10
At the WC in Edmonton the year after did he beat the Kenyan Simon Biwott winth 1 second!!, while the later Olympic Goldmeddlawinnner Stfano Baldini was 3rd
Then he was the first governing Olympic winner who wons th WC
He got his breakthrough in 1999 as he got 4th in Los Angeles and later that year did he win in Fukuoka. Where he also were nr 1 in 2000 and 2001
